at East Ruston as to what is still to come in snowdrops.

Brian, 'Ice Princess' is really something new and wonderful. Like double Leucojum.
I understand the price, but I hope it is a vigorous variety so that the price will go down in next ten years. Can't wait!

Trouble was, in his talk on Poculiform Snowdrops, Joe Sharman showed pictures of some even "better" ones still in the pipeline, pure white (I think) and looking reminiscent of a Dahlia.

Anyway, I admire Joe for imagining new forms of snowdrops worthwhile developing and succeeding after many years of hard work, like he did with his masterpiece ´Golden Fleece´. Snowdrops resulting from such efforts are far more worth their money than the many chance seedlings or finds offered at similar prices.

implying there were better ones in the future.  He has a good understanding now of the breeding process so we must watch this space!!

I agree with Mariette that he has worked very hard in producing this and deserves the plaudits.  At least he is producing something very different, as he did with the wonderful 'Golden Fleece' rather than yet another G.sandersii or whatever which looks much the same.

One of Andy Byfield's introductions Fridge Magnet, looking delightful in today's sunshine.  It has been flowering for ages and has clumped very well.

G. plicatus Kera, has deeply corrugated flowers in a wonderful balloon shape. It is shorter than Diggory. It is a seedling sent to me from Estonia, and was bred by Suur Tilk.

These Estonian drops are delightful Anne, very nice range!

There is  more than one  Gert Jan known in the  forum - but  I think the  Gert Jan referred to by  Brian  is  Gert Jan van der  Kolk, who has  introduced  a number  of  fine  snowdrops.  Hopefully  Brian will help with that.

Yes indeed Maggi it was Gert Jan Van der Kolk, I suppose I ought to have started this thread then but I won't post the picture yet again as it can be found there.

Galanthus Ristpart, a new double of Estonian origin, being offered tonight by Anne Wright on Ebay! It is a beautiful drop and grows well!

Anne Repnow gave a talk to the Snowdrop Group of the HPS in Tuxford yesterday (16/2/20).  This was on the snowdrops she grows in her garden and featured one called 'Brian Ellis' which was certainly new to me.  Unfortunately I don't have a picture - but perhaps Brian can oblige?

I don't  have  a  photo, but  I  believe  G. 'Brian Ellis was  found  in area of  the Greatorex 'drops.

Maggi & Alan  - I've known Brian for donkey years and not once has he mentioned a "Brian Ellis'.  Such modesty, and such wisdom and generosity to the Galanthus world over there certainly deserves to be so honoured.  Made my day. Now we need a photo!
