Given our recent mild Winters I might try removing insulation from my greenhouse to let more light in.

Fermi do You have dry winters or do You get quite a bit of rain?
Plants tend have problems with wet and cold more than dry and cold so these might not be possible in Northern Europe without rain protection!?

I should point out that the Brunsvigia (as well as a lot of other South African winter growers) is planted in a very well-drained bed, probably more sand/gravel than loam and though we get most of our rain during winter the soil here never gets water-logged. I think the reason it took so long to flower was the low fertility of the soil,

Fermi, your Brunsvigia has triggered fond memories from our South African sojourn last year... finding Brunsvigia orientalis in the wild.  Martin was the one who hollered out "Stop The Car"... and off we went. It is a shame, although understandable, that Brunsvigia seed is rarely available, given its short life span.... wishing I had one of "our" red orientalis for the sun room.

After a week the Brunsvigia marginata is looking less like a nerine as the pedicels elongate!
