Meconopsis 'Cruickshank'  possibly synonymous  with M. 'Bobby Masterton' but for sentimental reasons I prefer to keep the name I first knew it as.  This was taken before the winds last weekend.  They don't look so good now.  I don't know why there's a paler one.  Two plants were split up last year and they are all the same clone.

A self sown Meconopsis prattii or rudis.  It's a few years since I have grown either here.



A perennial Meconopsis prattii.  It doesn't flower which isn't much good.

Colin writes: " It is a great plant, very tall compared to all the others and exceptionally floriferous.
It is normally a much deeper blue. I think the purple colouration must due to to the cold weather we had earlier in May or the drought we have had for two months.
The plant is in the trade and is being sold by several nurseries as Biggar Park and I think this should become the accepted name as it is a very distinct cultivar."

"It was with much relief that the Meconopsis Group were able to retrieve the famous Meconopsis cultivar M. ‘Branklyn’. We found it in the garden of Mr David Stewart Moore in Co. Antrim who had grown it since purchasing plants from Jack Drake’s Nursery! It’s now well established here in the garden after its name."

Thank you Maggi for posting these beautiful and interesting Meconopsis pictures. Big blue poppies have become my favourites now that I have found a spot in the garden where they like to grow. First one opened here just two days ago.

That is a very pretty pink/red!

I love these blue ones. This is my biggest ex 'Lingholm', grown from seed ex seeds in 2016 and is now flowering for the second time. Last year it's flowers were more purplish blue, maybe the weather affects the colour, because now there is no purplish in the flowers..
Still, they are very big, and some of the flowers have six petals, some five and one four. It is a king of the woodland bed!
How common is it that they have more than four flowers?
