Since
1836 the
Wakefield & North of England Tulip Society has held an annual show, even during both World Wars. 2020 however proved challenging and it looked as though the show would be cancelled due to Coronavirus. However, the
Swedish members - who were under less stringent restrictions - stepped in to save the day and held a tulip show which has subsequently been adopted by the WNETS as its
Annual Show and thus means there is an unbroken - no pun intended, as the WNETS exhibits 'broken' tulips - record of over 180 annual shows.
In addition to the tulips and the general good humour one of the highlights is a Swedish rendition of
On Ilkley Moor Bar t'At!
I hope you enjoy the proceedings; here's, hopefully, to the 2021 Show in Wakefield (provisionally) set for Saturday 8 May at Outwood Memorial Hall, 1-2 Victoria Street, Wakefield WF! 2NE. Open to the public from 1430hrs.
