Now for  some  of  Janis' Corydalis.....
"Now in full bloom are Corydalis. Of course - far from this glory, when I grew them in outside garden. In pots (now)  they are too crowded and growing capacity is much poorer. Stems are brittle and replacing of pots outside is not easy, too. This winter I lost some very nice things - from species they are ussuriensis, repens, fumariifolia, magadanica, bracteata (the last in greenhouse only, some selfsawn seedlings left in outside garden on Hosta bed) and few of my very first cultivars - Blushing Girl, Snowstorm, Zarja Povolzja and may be few others. They all were selected around 50 years ago and I think that it was age what bring death to them. Only propagation from seeds are renewing plant, but during vegetative multiplying (splitting) plants became elder every coming year and once comes end... That is why I recommend to....  buy all colour types and to allow them selfsowing in garden, in such a way keeping all colour types as renewed tubers."

Sic transit gloria mundi - my Corydalis beds in outside garden 16 years ago...

From Far East species my favorite is Corydalis ornata with its rainbow of white-blue-lilac-pinkish colours

Corydalis solida Guna-3 - selected by my wife Guna from her hosta bed.

Corydalis caucasica 'Clown' - it was selected by Russian botanist Sergey Banketov.

Corydalis wendelboii 'Abant Wine'

Corydalis x allenii 14-01 is hybrid between bracteata and solida and every year somewhere in garden appears new slightly different types.

Excellent hybrid between Corydalis gorinensis x magadanica

It is registered as hybrid between Corydalis bracteata x gorinensis 21-12 - both parents are yellow. From where came this fantastic pink shade ?

Wonderful Corydalis!
Somehow my favourite from the unnamed is the first on 01-02, the smoky blue shade is very nice.
C.ornata is fabulous. I tried it once maybe 9 years ago, but it died the first winter (outside).
I'm sad to hear about Janis losing so many Corydalis this winter.

I'm sad to hear about Janis losing so many Corydalis this winter.

I think the  problem has been them not  growing  so well in pots now as they did in the  open  and he has less time  to  repot them.

It is too bad when good cultivars are lost; saddening to hear about their loss. Hope is that some will survive in people gardens.
I don't have a Corydalis favorite, I like them all :)

I wished many will read and trust what Janis recommends:
"That is why I recommend to....  buy all colour types and to allow them selfsowing in garden, in such a way keeping all colour types as renewed tubers."
It may hold true for other bulbuous/tuberous species.
