the Kew Science site that I use as my source of reference provides 306 species for the genus Iris!

I'm trying to grow my own collection of species irises here so I've been multiplying those few pleasant hours consistently for some time already. Of course, with such a wide diversity plus the intrinsic difficulty of access to seeds from the 'rarer' species, a goal like mine can take decades. But then that's part of the fun of being a botanical nerd....
