Was looking at my cyclamen hederifolium bed, and noticed this flower. Could it be a hederifolium x
purpurascens cross?  Plant has no leaves showing.

Picked a hederifolium flower to show the differences.

The cyclamen season is well ahead this year with the drought, the few rains we had triggered most of the bulbs.

Cyclamen graecum i really must repot, it's almost cracking the pot. May other specimens are in the garden and don't need any special care nor they fear the wet winters.

Loving that cyclamen bursting out of it's pot Yann!

It's the same here up 'north' and Cyclamen africanum is looking particularly crisp this year (outside all year uncovered).

That's a nice one Stefan.

I have something similar here in the garden, grown from seed received from Jan Bravenboer some years ago.
Last spring I was also pleased to receive some seed ex 'Red Sky' from the SRGC exchange that germinated well.
Time will tell whether the colour is distinct from these dark purples.

Maggi, that was the perfect Fall day for cyclamen.

I'm wondering if anyone knows, a few plants of my hederifolium have a fragrance,  most of the plants don't. Just wondering why that is?

Next years project is to get these Purpurascens seedlings replanted in a new bed.
These were from last year, so almost a year old. I have seeds still from seed I collected this year, if anyone is interested in trade. I would be looking for Pulsatilla, Hepatica, Eranthis , Adonis.

Guff, Cyclamen hederifolium ssp crassifolium, is a subspecies of Cyclamen hederifolium from the Greek Peloponnese, has a fragrance.

Herman thanks.

I think I recall buying hederifolium ssp crassifolium seeds.

Just curious, did you buy your Purpurascens Alba? Wondering how much they cost over there? I had bought seed from Jan, years ago. I have 13 plants under lights, from last years seed. Probably should plant them out.

Made a bed for Purpurascens Alba seeds. It will be interesting to see how many pop up. I counted out 400 seeds and planted them 2 inches apart. Just a temporary bed. I had about 30 seeds last year for 13 plants.

Purpurascens Alba seedlings are starting to show 10/8/2022

Guff, I bought C. purpurascens f. album in 2017 from Jan Bravenboer, a few weeks before his death.
