Tulipa 2023
« on: January 05, 2023, 12:49:27 PM »
Here's an interesting talk about tulip taxonomy & conservation in Central Asia by Brett Wilson, based on his PhD thesis at Univ Cambridge & hosted by the Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland (BSBI).

Thanks ashley for Brett Wilson 's talk. Very interesting indeed. I'm looking forward to read the publication with the phylogeny. The position adopted seems quite conservative.

Very nice, Luc!
Are those Amanas grown the same way as tulips or do they need a more moist environment?

My tulips are all grown outdoors so they will need a couple of weeks to flower but most leaves are out and everything is looking good. I am now at 30m2 of densely packed pots, next season it will probably be 40m2.

Amanas are in the same mix but get a little bit of water during dormancy.  Same as tulipa humilis.

Thank you, Luc, for posting your gorgeous pictures of tulips.  I've enjoyed seeing them all.  The picture of T. cretica Mt. Dikti form is quite eye-catching.
