Erythronium Japonicum

Light purple.

Put a block of wood to block sunlight, this one is hard to get pictures of.

They are beautiful!  If they set seed, may I buy some?

MarcR, sorry but I have to say no.

I have been trying my luck at hybridizing these for years, and it takes a long time to even see a flower. Most don't grow well here.

You can buy Erythronium seed from.

Last Erythronium for me this year. Didn't have a lot of flowers this Spring. Probably had over a
hundred of Erythronium americanum flowers this year though.

Many years ago I had purchased many packets of every type of Erythronium alplains.com had.

Last time It flowewred Maggie said possible E. helenae  x E. californicum hybrid

Marc ,Guff and Claire very nice erythroniums.

I tried Erythronium japonicum  few years back from tubers but unfortunately it is not hardy in our climate. The only Erythronium that is doing well is Erythronium sibericum.
I have some Eryhronium americium planted last year. Hope they comeback and flower in spring

Kris,

Snow cover, if you have it, should protect them. If not, You could grow them under a cold frame with a heat bulb and a thermostat set to -28C  (-20 F); or pot them and overwinter them in an out building.
