I am in USDA zone 8b where temperatures almost never fall below 15F -9.4C. Rainfall 50" 110 cm + but none June-September. We seldom get snow; but when it comes we get 30" overnight. Soil is sandy loam with a lot of humus.

Gail, did yours always flowered only red or is it just the first flower after you got it?

This is the second year of flowers on the Shima Nishiki and all have been all red (5 blooms in total) so far. I'll keep fingers crossed for some bicoloured ones next year! Yours are looking great Jurg.

Agreed, such an elegant flower. I only wish it would clump up quicker - still only one stem...

P. tenuifolia is doing well this year, still in flower. I shall divide this year as a neighbour has been admiring it and wants a bit!

Such lovely flowers. I'm sure your peony bank will have National Monument status in years to come Guff!
More of mine;
Paeonia peregrina
Last bloom on Paeonia ‘Wu Kong Xiu Xing’ one of the Gansu mudan hybrids. This one has very big blotches but no stamens.
