That looks lovely Stefan. My first peony opened yesterday, Paeonia mascula subsp. russoi I love this one - fabulous foliage, with gorgeous cotton-woolly undersides to the leaves and always early; this year it has beaten P. obovata.

I bought P. mlokosewitchii in Spring 2018 from Kiftsgate Court Gardenn, lovely garden! It was a small plant, maybe from seed , it hasn't flowered yet, how many years does it take for this species to reach maturity, does anyone know?

That looks lovely, how nice foliage and also flowers are pretty! I once had seedlings germinating but lost them one winter.

I think the foliage looks like it should flower next year. It depends on the soil and such, but I think it should flower maybe 5 years from germinating.

Our P. mascula ssp. rossii is open too.
Even got a couple of seeds germinated of it from last year.

First of my tree peonies to flower - grown from seed sown 2017 as P. decomposita. Very pretty flower with a light sweet fragrance.

Paeonia ? 'Shima-nishiki' opened in my front garden but is taking a battering from the wind. This has only produced all red flowers for me; I'm hoping it gives me some stripey ones in due course.

When established the plant will begin to show striped flowers. It takes him a few years to do that.

It really is an impressive old plant with many flowers!

The funny thing is my Peony 'Shima Nishiki' is also only in red this season.

Also this year my Shima Nishiki flowered only in red. It had 4 flowers this year (last year it was only one, but it had white stripes).

I have another strange thing. My P. emodi grows every year and shows small flower buds, but they do not develop over 1cm in diameter. Sometimes I had issues with frost and tried to cover the plant, but this year there was no frost only temperatures a bit above zero degree. Has anybody any idea why this could be?

Another problem I have is with P. veitchii. I got 3 times plants from a colleague and every time they disappeared/died after 1-2 years. Maybe I should try it with seeds, but where can I get some seeds of P. veitchii; can anybody of you send me some if you have some?

Here near Basel most of the tree peonies have finished with flowering except for the P. delavayi's which just started to flower.
