« on: October 03, 2024, 03:39:25 PM »
October is in full swing with many of the South African bulbs coming into bloom.
Here are a few things from the garden:
1 & 2) Pelargonium triste
3 & 4) Moraea villosa? or is it M. aristata?
5) a Sparaxis variety

This bluebell has appeared in a bed away from all the other bluebells which are all the Spanish or the hybrids.
Could it possibly be the "true" British Bluebell with its drooping inflorescence?

Thanks, Ashley,
A lot of Cape Bulbs are suited to our climate so mostly don't need any special attention.
Here are a few Pacific Coast Iris:
1)  PCI which might the one named 'Sahara Sunset' from Heidi Blyth
2)  purple seedling PCI
3) white seedling PCI (this might be from Diane W in Canada)
4) another of Heidi's PCI
5) Another one of Heidi's - maybe Sahara Sands but it may have been unnamed.
cheers

PCI's do well here, very hardy and now there is a huge range of colours and some with excellent flower shape well away from the more spikey species that they were derived from.

Hi Fermi,

Your Geissorhiza radians is a really intense cobalt blue.  Mine are closer to royal blue.  I like yours better.

Hi Marc,
Thanks, the colour looks like a good representation on the pic - it is quite dark.
Here are a few more pics:
1 & 2) Leucocoryne ixioides
3 & 4) Ixia trifolia
5) Nothoscordum minarum
cheers
