The leaf miner on my filled Hep is Phytomyza abdominalis (?)
It plays no role in the culture (?).

Wonderful Hepaticas everyone. :)

Also here Hepatica season started last week, early for us.

Native H.nobilis

H.nobilis ex 'Bavarian Blue'

Seed grown H.japonica. The one in the back is always earlier than others, and it is also more vigorous.

Lovely early light blue H.japonica

My best H.pubescens

The last two plus double H.japonicas are now covered by double layered fleece to protect the flowers from freezing nights.

Leena from south of Finland

Hepatica americana from northern Minnesota, USA.  Can you guess what the mulch is?

This is at the base of a Chinese Dragon spruce (Picea asperata).  The squirrels take the spruce cones, sit under the tree and remove and discard all the cone scales to get to the seeds.  It's a truly squirrel-made (and very attractive) mulch!

just west of Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
USDA zone 4, annual precipitation ~24in/61cm

Yes, very beautiful!!!!

Millstream Merlin has been blooming for weeks, even though I didn't plant the sections until 2024.
The acutiflora also delights me.
