Such a shame that the Kendal Show was not able to go ahead in 2025, especially as it is one of the  only Joint AGS/SRGC Shows. Good of you to send these photos of plants which might have graced the benches, though, Stan!

I am sure that we all wish you the best and most full recovery from your recent surgery.
Cheers,

Watts saxifrage display

We had our own "not the Kendal show" by courtesy of George and Sue Watts at Burnside near Drongan.  They opened their greenhouses so we could see their extensive collection of Saxifrages and related Alpines all beautifully displayed in sand plunges.  A most impressive sight!

I had hoped to do a deal of photography but with sunshine and shadows on the plants AND being in a plunge a rim level, it didn't work out.  However I did take a few as record shots.

Sue was beavering away somewhere and George after a while had to go and collect cut logs from many trees that had fallen during one of the many gales which hit us. I don't know how they can keep up the work rate in their garden -"mini-estate".

Being a reluctant driver now, it was a pleasure not having to go more than 8 miles for the trip.  Many thanks to them both.

Tom, Stan many thanks (and to Sue and George of course) some truly splendid plants.
Incidentally why was the Kendal show cancelled this year? Was it venue issues?
Yemen, what a country ... Haraz mountains, Socotra, Sana'a, Hadramaut, the empty quarter.... a country of stunning, mind altering beauty...and the friendliest of people.

Primarily because it was felt that it was difficult to do so safely given the advanced age of many of the remaining few volunteers who assist with setup. Other than Susan and myself and David Morris, there are no (relative) youngsters left in the group.
