Collecting seeds
« on: July 19, 2008, 12:05:48 AM »
There are certain species like Fragaria vesca and Vaccinium myrtillus which are very difficult to collect, and even more if you find a Waffle sp# Ex. France ;D ;D ;D

From the garden today: Loganberries, tayberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants, strawberries and autumn raspberries topped with a crunchy crumble, baked in the oven and then served with vanilla ice-cream. Now, that's the way to treat your seeds.

Hans, I think also Onco rhizomes are rich in isoflavones so you can prepare them like topinambur or any other potatoe... why dont' you make your first recipe with Iris swensoniana? ;D

Paddy, you MUST post an image!! :o or even better send me privately this image with the recipe :P hahahha

Here is one of Iberian endemic Iris boissieri. This species has disappeared in most of the localities in Spain and there is only Xures Natural Park, and in one or two other place, but very few plants. Some of the reasons could be eucalyptus introductions and slate mines, in general, inhabit destruction...

I notice today there is also another reason, a high seeds percentage is destroyed by this insect Mononychus.

Rafa, do you have the Viola sp. that has very thin grass-like leaves. I have seen it near Barcelona.
