Okay, here's another question for the Techy Buffs.... a chum is having trouble opening Ian's Bulb Logs as pdfs.... gets a message about lacking permission from the owner " ???? :P
Any suggestions to rescue her?

Okay, Folks, this further info from my Friend, Cath, who is getting this message when she tries to open the Bulb Log.... "You don't have permission to access/bulblog/bulblog.html on this server
Apache/2.2.3 Server at www.srgc.org.uk Post80"

 Any ideas?

So Cath is trying access the old bulblogs which live at:

http://www.srgc.org.uk/bulblog/bulblog.html

That URL works at the moment, I'd be inclined to wonder if it was temporarily not working or if she managed to type it slightly differently.

Getting the extra info is a big step forward because we now know it is a server problem whilst originally it looked like it might be PDF related.

But whose Server?!  Fred thinks it is not the SRGC server.... what would a solution be..... I think Cath has been having this problem for a while, though she has cracked the pdf versions.

Yes, but it says "Apache/2.2.3 Server at www.srgc.org.uk Post80" so it looks like your server.

If I type in an illegal URL:

http://www.srgc.org.uk/bulblog/

This is what I get:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /bulblog/ on this server.
Apache/2.2.3 Server at www.srgc.org.uk Port 80

Does anyone know why my PC does not recognise my 8GB SD card? I can put other SD cards in the slot and the computer can see it. I have to edit the photos on my lap top transfer them to a memory stick and cut and paste to my PC

Mark, your card is probably an SDHC card and if so you need an SDHC card reader.

Help! Can anyone suggest why I can't get to the SRGC website online? It's the only website I'm having this problem with.

On my two newest computers (I'm writing this via my oldest, slowest laptop which hasn't been online for ages) every time I click any link to the website or the forum, via Google or anywhere else, after  a few seconds I get 'navigation to website cancelled' or 'this programme cannot open the webpage'.

It's really wierd. This the only  website where this keeps happening. I can get onto all kinds of other sites okay.

As I say, the old computer manages it okay. The problem is with the newer computers which have been online a lot recently. I'm wondering if it could be down to an Internet Explorer download/update that the old computer hasn't received. But why would it affect only one website on the whole net?! I've checked that my security settings are okay, and tried putting this website in the trusted sites box, but no use - and again, why would it affect only this one site anyway?

Anyone who can suggest an answer will get a huge virtual hug as I can't surf the forum as I work anymore, and can only do it on this old, very slow laptop if I unplug the wireless router and plug in my old wire router specially for this old laptop.

Solved it! I should have realized sooner what the obvious difference was between the two newer computers that couldn't access the srgc website and the old one that could - the newer ones use a wireless router connection and the old one doesn;t have wireless capability so connects via a cable through an old BT router.

Simply switched the wireless router off and on again, repaired the wireless connection and I can get onto the website again. Of course if I hadn't been able to connect to any websites then I'd have checked the wireless router. But only being blocked from this one website threw me - made me think it was a problem with the website server or the computers (but why both computers? Because they use the same wireless router, Stupid!!!!)

I normally switch the wireless router off at night, but I've been very distracted the last few days by work and domestic problems and forgot to turn the router off for a few nights in a row. If I'd remembered, it would have reset itself and the problem would have gone away the next day. Ironically, these few days of work and domestic problems piling up were exactly when I would very much have liked to access the forum to help take my mind off things!

Anyway, thanks for the advice posted and sent in emails and pms, and apologies for being stupid.

Good to hear you have cracked the problem, Martin. With these computer problems it can be a case of not seeing the wood for the trees, I think.
I know that I wilt rapidly in the face of any IT glitsch and I sympathise with the need for a Forum Fix .... after the recent Discussion Weekend, without any forum contact, I was very twitchy... and I was surrounded by SRGC Chums the whole time! I guess the  company of a couple of hundred chums is just not the same as the comfort of thousands!!
