Whenever I am desperate I will check into Maggi's post and have a chuckle - nothing like seeing the funny side as a cure

I have a problem which is most annoying, and I hope someone can offer some ideas....
Hopefully it is an internet options issue that I can resolve on my own..
I am on a relatively new computer (4 months old) and the issue has only been an issue since then (no problem with old computer system).
When I post on this forum all is fine until I get to a certain point in the prose (have never counted the actual number of lines or characters). Once that "limit" is reached, my writing screen starts to "jump around", making it impossible to continue (as though I am being limited in writing any more)....my normal routine is to then compose in a separate program and cut and paste into this window.
Because this is the only forum I am active in at this point, I am not sure if it would also happen elsewhere.

Kristl,
I've changed laptops recently but experienced the same problem you describe on the old laptop. Never sorted it out and it has not happened on this one. When it happened I simply continued typing blind.

I have noticed the same problems. Typing blind is for me, using a foreign language is still more a problem
Using preview several times then.
I solved the problem by writing my longer postings in
Word
first and then copy and paste into the reply.

Time-out on postings has caused me failure to post sometimes and also if you go back more than one page to reference something whilst posting you lose your post - I have overcome this by opening a new tab in the browser and searching for the reference of a quote or whatever that way with my post still right there in the original tab

Robin, glad to hear that's its just not me having the problem with time out, I shall try opening a new tab and see how this works. One thing with this forum not only do you learn about your favorite plants but you also get a free class on computing.

Those of you fortunate enough to be on my email contacts list already know who you are as I have, allegedly, been sending you spam messages. I have just been to the 'doctor' with my lap top and it is clean. The problem is coming from my provider, Hotmail, who has been compromised and many addresses have been hijacked.
The advice I received was that changing my password, and changing it regularly, should stop this happening. What do the Forum experts think?
My own though is to open a Yahoo account for my emails and to keep the Hotmail one for logging into sites like the Forum. Thoughts, anyone?
Advice would be welcome as I don't want to keep sending out spam to my friends.

Open a G-mail account and don't use hotmail anymore. It is out of date now anyway.

I agree with Michael, gmail is very good, I have been using it for years.
Hotmail servers do weird things at times they won't accept mail I send to friends using a hotmail account, they bounce the message back.

You can also download Picasa for free,it is a picture editing program and very easy to use. It works perfect with G-mail for sending pics, and will give you free web space to save and show your pics. Very handy it your computer goes down as the pics are all on the web and will not be lost.

What are the advantages of this type of account over the normal types of Email account?

David, my normal mail supplied by my ISP only has a miserable 3MB mailbox, anything bigger than that bounces back to the sender, so my friends and family know to send big attachments to my gmail account which I think at the moment has a 20MB limit on each file size sent.
The account keeps growing the longer I have it, at the moment it allows 7393MB total size.
I have used up less than one gig so far.
I use it for all my subscriptions too, so if the unthinkable happened and I had a hard drive crash I would still have all the details for my subscribed accounts.
Because it is so big I don't bother deleting much mail and can use the search to find things quickly.

Well, I've gone and done it. I now have a gmail account. It looks good but I won't know how good until I have some more experience of it.
gmail has allowed me to pull over my contact list from Hotmail and I have now deleted the Hotmail list of contacts. Hopefully, this means that Mondays spam mailing cannot happen again
.
My Hotmail account is still open and still gives me direct access to the Forum so I should be contactable by a Personal Message. If anyone wants my new gmail address just PM me and I will forward it.
Here's to happy google messaging!
