True Mark, but not everybody has an e-mail option on their profile and, if like me,  you leave the SRGC forum open most of the day but only open your email account once a day.......

A plea for help, I see when you are sending a private message there is an option to include an image. On clicking the button the system inserts (img)(img), great, what do I do next? Can't copy and insert an image and there does not seem to be any window for uploading an image.
Cheers
Chris

I have never cracked this      :-[ :'(   ..... but I think either KentGardener(John Finch) or Martin Baxendale has...... HELP LADS!!

Hang on... it WAS John.... I've found what he told me......
"Putting photos on PMs:  I found some images that I liked elsewhere on the net - right clicked on the image and chose properties.  Then I copied the url shown at the bottom of the properties window - and pasted this into the PM. All that was needed then was to highlight the pasted url and click on the 'image' button (the pictures frame).  This put the opening and closing image tags in place. Or  the image can be in flickr etc....."

Maggi - Can I send an image on my computer within a PM?  I have never figured that out but someone a few months ago said they had done it out but didn't elaborate.  Perhaps they meant a URL photo link as you just described.

It CAN be done, John Finch has sent them to me in the past. Michael C and I are trying hard to get it to work, but no luck so far!
Maybe Fred has disabled the feature.... that would be a nice easy answer! I'll ask him tonight!

EDIT: Scrub that comment about failure.... Michael has cracked it.... two tries ago, only I was too thick to see it!! Now we can find out how Michael did it!...... 8)

Michael has cracked it..... but I can only do it when I go to Michael's web album and use a file from there.... it won't work form the picture files in my pc. So still a mystery, but  here iswhat Michael did:
"I went into my web album and right clicked on the pic, then click properties and then highlight and copy the location, not the address and then in the message click insert image and paste the location.

When you click on the pic and then  properties you get a box with the address at the top and an location address at the bottom, it is the bottom one that you copy."

Trouble is that I do not get such a box when I right click on my pix.  :-\ :-[ :'(

Cheers Maggi, looks like the images must be web based and have a URL, if the images are only on your local PC they won't send as they haven't been uploaded. Thanks for your investigations!

Hi,
usually when you right click on an image on the web, you can select Copy Image Location.
Then just paste into your message, select it and click on the Insert Image button.
Thanks for bringing this up, I learnt something.

You cannot attach images in PMs, only use [img]tags to refer to an image hosted elsewhere.

Attachments in posts are allowed  for the  purposes of  sharing on the open forum. Most sites do not allow this  because of  the very high bandwidth use it creates. It is not reasonable to  place a heavier load on SRGC site by exchanging  photos privately  by PM, therefore it is not allowed. There is not even a setting  for it in the admin controls.

Best way is  to email them or host them on photobucket or similar and refer to them in your PMs using the [img] tags.

Can someone explain why the forum clock is one hour ahead of my clock?  I am posting from the UK and it is 5:56 a.m.
Almost in Scotland.

Is it still on summer time?  My computer always knows how to change
back and forth automatically.

Yes, it could be still on summer time but it is wrong on current time, which is currently the same as GMT.  If it is stuck, it would be better stuck on GMT.
Almost in Scotland.
