I've had a run in with BT because they charged me a years broadband on one bill. They wouldnt back down and admit it was their mistake. They have cut me off the internet and the telephone and say I'm contracted with them until October 2009.

I'm logged on to the openzone using next doors internet but I'm sure they will catch on.

Who are you with for telephone and internet? Have you left one to go with another?

Can anyone suggest why I can't now open pdfs attached to emails in Outlook Express (without first saving them to another location such as my documents)?

I was trying to open the latest Bulb Log pdf on the main SRGC site when my laptop started telling me that the pdf reader currently running couldn't open pdfs online. I'd had no trouble with this before. I downloaded the latest Adobe Acrobat reader 9, but then found that none of my pdfs would open, so I went into folder options in the control panel and had to manually set the programme that pdfs automatically open with to Adobe Acrobat reader 9.

Now all the pdfs stored in my documents, desktop etc open automatically with Adobe Acrobat Reader 9, but pdfs attached to emails in Outlook Express still won't open unless I first save them to another location. I keep getting the message to create an association with the pdf reader in the folders option, which I've already done, and when I re-do it, the situation remains the same.

Any ideas? I can simply save pdf attachments and then open them, but it's bugging me that I can't just open them in Outlook Express like before.   >:(

Others seem to have had this:

The bottom line there is remove adobe reader by hand and reinstall.

Thanks David. I reinstalled adobe acrobat reader 9 but didn't do it manually and didn't uninstall the first installation first, so I'll try doing that. Sounds like it'll solve the problem.

It could be a safety feature preventing you from accidentally opening malware. If so you would probably find it among the setings in your anti-virus software.

I seem to have hit a little problem, well, more of an annoyance really. When ever I create a shortcut on my desktop and click it to open it it does open but is let than half of my screen size. To get it to full size I need to click the middle of the three buttons in the top right corner of the screen. This has started to happen only recently and I have not had the problem before. I'm using Windows XP and Internet Explorer. Can anyone help please??

David, maybe when you saved the shortcut you had the window resized.
Try opening the shortcut, making it full size and then go to file exit, then reopen the shortcut.
If you resize a window and X out, windows won't remember the new setting, you have to go to file and exit.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for responding Helen but it hasn't cured the problem.

David, I find that windows will do that if you open more than one window/shortcut with the same programme. E.g. if you have a word document open on the toolbar at the bottom, then click a shortcut to another word document then the second doc will open in a reduced box which you have to click to enlarge to full screen. Is that the problem , in which case I don't know what you can do; that just seems to be bloody windows knowing best.

If you right click on the shortcut, select properties, short cut tab, look at Run: it offers a choice of window which sounds like it should do what you want.

I just tried that, and it only gives you the option of having the window open normally (normal or maximised) or open minimised to the tool bar, so not sure it'll solve the problem.
