It use do be that one took a rolled newspaper and hit the box - That worked beautifully on radios tape recorders and other appliances with tubes. Today everything is on silicone and the remedy is tho pull the plug to everything and put it back. I was once thought by a very experienced automotive engineer that if your car does not start you do the following:Step out. Walk one trurn around the car clockwise and kick each wheel once. Then do the same anti-clockwise. The funny thing is that it usually works. Yes it does (The motorminded will know why) CheersGöte

These days most cars don't have old-style carburettors, but fuel injection systems, and I don't know if the same thing applies.
A couple of weeks ago, following a prompt from AVG, I downloaded the newest version of Free AVG, Version 9 build 698. I am finding this version runs very slowly on my computer and the updates process takes an absolute age to complete. Is anyone else having the same problem?
Best laugh in a long time. Thanks Maggi
