Because I didn't know that I could! On my other gardening blog site if I tried to change my mail address I would also have to change my user name. On this site I want my 'David Shaw' name to stay. Thanks for your support, folk, including Maggie who offered to help me out - again.

My text jumps around in the text box also but only when I'm writing a private message

There seems to be a known bug in Internet Explorer 8 - as soon as I got it I started to have problems entering text. The SRGC forum runs on the Simple Machines Forum (SMF), there's been much discussion in that context e.g.:

http://dev.simplemachines.org/mantis/view.php?id=3354

Apparently the problem can be avoided by changing the forum design, but a mystery why there's been no IE8 fix.

Aaargh, the printer's given up the ghost :'( :'( :'(. My Canon i550 says it needs a new print head....costs as much as a printer! Cleaning & service tips gleaned via google haven't fixed it.

So...who recommends what in the printer line at the moment? I use it for low frequency printing and printing photographs, again infrequently but I like a decent quality.

Suggestions please!

Martin, we currently have the canon pixma iP5000 but will probably have to replace it when our current lot of ink is used up.
( It is getting hard to find places that stock the ink cartridges for this model )

I would seriously look at the Canon Pixma MP560

Thanks Helen, I don't need the scanner/copy functions as I'm more than happy with my current model. The pixma iP3600 looks like it has much the same printer functionality as the MP560 for a lot less money. More research ongoing as we speak.

I recently bought a HP Color laserjet CP1515n.
It is a great success - especially with Canon laser printer paper.
The pages look like very good professinal printing.
I had a HP inkjet before and it was cheap but I paid its price in ink before scrapping it.
This one cost me less than £200 - twice an inkjet but the running cost is about a third so it will soon be paid off.
Until nowCheers

Kodak is advertising on TV just now and claiming to have the cheapest cartridges.

Tesco has half price printers.

Thanks all for your inputs on printers. I can't justify a colour laser printer as I don't do the volume to make it pay for itself. I had an interesting hour on Amazon reading customer comments on a range of machines. I'd narrowed it down to a Canon iP4700 or one of the new Kodak range. After reading aforementioned comments I went for the Canon. Worth a read if only to make up your own mind about how cheap the Kodak ink is.

Then I went price hunting. Local big chain retail outlet £110, Online major retailer £78. Guess which one I chose!
