I got this lily from John Amand at the Early Bulb Display but forgot to write its name down. Any ideas?

It's certainly splendid! Quite gorgeous in fact. You been away for a while Anthony?

Anthony,

Would it be Conca d'Or?  Looks more open than I recall of 'Golden Splendour' when I used to grow it many years ago, but I realise that is a grex anyway.  Conca d'Or almost looks like a yellow oriental to my eyes, but is an OT as far as I know.  I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.  Only way to learn.  8)
Cheers.

Ah yes, one of those, and they have the gall to try and persuade us that they actually work after 3pm every day, or in school holidays when we KNOW they don't! ::)

Another possibility is "Georgette"; whatever it is,Anthony, you've done a good job of growing it, despite your absence!
cheers

The leaves are definitely those of an OT not a trumpet. I see Jacques Amand lists both Conca D'Or and Boogie Woogie; it looks more like Conca D'Or to me.

I think AD's not been on holiday at all, but he and Paddy have been holed up somewhere marking English SATS exam papers for huge sums of money!

(not worth explaining for those overseas, or indeed anyone who hasn't the remotest idea what a SATS is ;D  )

No idea what SATS exams are, so not guilty. :D School went back today, and kids come back tomorrow. I'm in 'til 5 tomorrow, so don't know where Lesley gets the 3 p.m. from (we start at 8.45 and the kids leave at 3.40)? As for holidays: some people manage to stretch a 6 month job out to fill most of the year and can get cheap holidays. We have to cram 12 months into 195 days, so the break in Croatia was well earned. ::)

'Conca D'Or' doesn't ring any bells and neither does 'Boogie Woogie', but then my ......... sorry, forgot what I was going to write! Either way, it is spectacular, brightening up one side of the front door (there's a large passionflower vine on the other side, covered in flowers). BTW, the lily in the pot hidden behind is nepalensis, which flowered whilst I was away. It has flowered well in the same pot for three years now.

My son James started secondary school today, so he's in S1. He's in the middle of the age group as he will be 12 in November. Doesn't time fly!? He left the house at 8.15 and plan's to walk the two miles to school with his pals every day, even though Vivienne teaches there! Lucy is 9 and in P5 She only has a 5 minute walk and finishes at 3 p.m.
