Uli, your memory must be good, because you are doing very well with your English  8)

There are others in the Forum who love the Onions..... such as OlegKon, who has been given the title of "Onion Farmer to the Forum" ;D because he likes to grow so many Allium!  ;) ;D  .....and the number of bulb lovers in the Forum are so many I cannot list them all!!
You have come to the right place  8)

Thanks a lot Maggie,

but the teachers don't think the same way.
Some of the allium-lovers I new from the forum, especially OlegKon with the wonderful Pict's from last summer. But having a lot of seedpods, with only one species in bloom, this season I hope to see the result of germination from 2005 and 2006.

Firstly I should introduce myself. My name is Robert and I work at an arboretum in Ottawa, USDA zone 4. Woody plants are my job and love. Arisaemas are another passion, woodland plants too. Honestly I love almost everything green with a focus on that which actually survives in our northern climate.  My friend Kristl Walek encouraged me to join this forum.

Hello Robert

 :-* :-* :-*

So happy you are here.

For everyone: Robert and I do crazy seed, seedling and plant exchanging---he is an excellent woody plant propagator, and I have been the happy recipient of some of his progeny. It's a great arrangment: I give him seedlings; he gives me cuttings.

And if some of you remember my pictures of the thousands of Trillium grandiflorum that had germinated in their moist-packed bags late this autumn---well, it is Robert who gratefully took these off my hands, saving them from the compost. I am hoping he will be able to share how they fared at the next phase. I believe they were spread out in flats and kept in a cold storage room over winter.

Robert: Yes, V.x rhytidophylloides 'Alleghany' is a very tough and tolerant plant. Looks a bit tattered in spring, but lovely leaves the rest of the year. It does very well in my garden, and I have found it roots very easily  from cuttings, too. The plain species V.rhyidophyllum is more demanding, but a good gardening friend has it growing along the north side of his house, and it has done well for years. Good luck with your Trillium trays!
