I'm given to understand that Crocus Group Seed is being sent out now.  Also hearing of members who do not seem to have been informed of this year's list.  Disappointing when this place has given so much time and support to the Group and surely serves as a recruitment aid!

Yes, I've been a member for years but haven't had a copy of the List this year to date. I did send WimB a PM but have not had a reply. I can appreciate that all those involved are volunteers but there's no point in doing half a job!

I was concerned when I read your message and wondered why I hadn't received the list. However when I re-read the email from Wim (sent in May) it cleared said that to receive the list you had to request it by August 15. I understand that as a small volunteer group they have to set cut-off dates to be able to do the work effectively.
Now I have to go and continue sorting seeds to send to the Seedexes!

Having been involved in sending out the CG Newsletter in the past, I recall problems with failure of bulk emails which may explain David not receiving his.  A proportion of the intended recipients did not receive the mail for reasons that were not always apparent.  I think the suggestion of an announcement here is a good idea.  The seed-ex is the work of a very small team who do the job in their spare time.  I am aware there has been no newsletter this year but the seed exchange continues.  I will contact Wim and we will discuss options for better communication, most importantly using the forum more effectively.

But I think it is a good idea to use the forum to avoid any issues regarding emailing the seed list.

In general I see a tendency to use Facebook more and more for posting pictures instead of using the SRGC forum. In my opinion we should use the Forum as much as possible to keep it at the current high level.

I'll make sure to post all correspondence regarding the CG seedex here too, but there will still be an e-mail sent out and I expect all contacts to go by the e-mailaddress of the seedex...for now, all seeds were sent out and I've closed the seedex for this year:

Some numbers regarding our last seedex.

We made about nine small packets of seed from 212 different species/cultivars/forms of Crocus which were sent in by 36 donors and sent out to 53 members.

Here below the top 10 of the “most wanted” species, but almost all seeds were asked in high quantity. As always, I could not give everyone everything they asked for, but I did my best.
