Tony , great to receive the newsletter by email , specially with the bonus of excellent photos
in this issue Dirk Schnabel's rarities ,such as a potfull of C. hartmannianus ,a species that has eluded me so far in my life .

 Roger Holland writes of C. biflorus ssp weldenii albus ,that the specimens he has seen do not match the description . Here are pics ( taken yesterday) of what I grow under that name , are they wrongly named too ? What is your verdict?

Looks like the plant I have under that name, Otto.
Roger received some corms 2 weeks ago from me and I hope he will confirm that its the true plant.

Note to CG members. 
Sorry there has not been a Spring newsletter this year.  Jacinta (my better half) had an operation January and is still recovering.  Keeping the family ship afloat has had to take precedence over some other responsibilities.  Hoping for a bumper summer edition - start writing those reports now!

Hi Croconuts,

Can anyone tell me what the decided name for this plant? It was thought to be an aberrant form of sieberi grown by Alan Edwards and purportedly from a wild seed collection on Mt Idi, (AGS Bulletin Sept 1998). I think David Stephens tentatively named it Edwards Gold?

If there is only one yellow sieberi around it is known under the name 'Midas Touch'.  It is considered a hybrid C. sieberi and most likely C cvijicii.  In his book Janis refers to this plant as having been raised from seed of garden origin which makes me question  whether yours is a different plant. .... Or perhaps there is some confusion

I have 'Midas Touch' from Marcus and it is different from that one shown now. Not in flower yet but I'll take a pic soon, if Marcus doesn't beat me to it.

Hi Guys,

The lemon coloured crocus I put last week is "Midas Touch". I received it directly from Alan Edwards. If you check David Stephen's article in AGS Bulletin Sept 1998 you will find that it was sent as seed to Alan from Ray Cobb with obviously the wrong provinence. Your explanation certainly seems more plausible.

Lesley my pic might just be a bit over exposed, either that or they were turning flowers.

Whatever it is its a beauty.

BTW Tony I am not on the Crocus Group mailing list anymore. Do I need to send 5 quid to you or what?
