Yesterday I had the great pleasure of hearing Janis Ruksans talking on 'Plants from behind the Iron Curtain'.

The event was organised by the Hampshire Hardy Plant Society, who also persuaded Joe Sharman to talk on Primroses.

I wonder why Janis is never asked to talk at a Conference - people don't know what they are missing.

Incidentally, who was chosen to fill the gap caused by the tragic death of Jim Archibald?

I believe that Jim himself planned for Henrik Zetterlund to deliver the lecture, using Jim's pictures and notes.

Does this mean that the delegates are getting a bonus   as Diane seemed to be saying that Hendrik was to give Jim's talk - or am I misunderstanding.

Jim had wanted Hendrik to give his talk in the event of his death and that is what is happening. Toshio's talk is an added bonus, so to speak, see these two posts for the original programme and then the revised one:

It doesn't affect me of course but some southern hemisphere delegates are unhappy that their conference information packs had not arrived before they left home for the UK or Europe. After all, if they travel so far and the whole trip costing so much, they want to go other places too, BEFORE the Conference as well as after, so it hasn't. for some, been a matter of leaving home just a few days before, but several weeks in a few cases.

I'm afraid your comment has such a familiar ring Jozef ... I have heard it on a number of occasions!

Hi i phoned AGS headquaters 2 days ago to ask the same quetion and they said,
Parham Bungalow Alpines, Amand's, Aberconway, Kevock, Christies and another one I thnk but I have left the list at work.
