Mark

If Beth Chatto sells on EBay, I have not found her.  Does she operate under another name?

Also, since most bidders are PRIVATE 1, 2 etc, how do you know that Palepink was the successful buyer.   ??? ???

I would love to know more about Ombersley Plants (Excellent bulbs and generous) & MROHowes (Tempted but have not bought yet as prices generally too rich for my pocket).  Are you able to supply some details, even if it is by PM.

Art, Beth Chatto Gardens had over ten different snowdrops for sale.  They have not yet put any more on, although they said they will be doing so on a "Buy it Now" basis Hooray!

To answer your second question, if you have only put in a sensible bid you are allowed to see the highest bidder at the end of the auction.

Brian

Thanks for answering a couple of my questions.

I must have missed the Beth Chatto lisitings, although I started watching EBay snowdrops some time ago.
If she lists as Beth Chatto, I will make her a favourite and then I get an email when new snowdrops are listed.

Do you know who is behind the other two names?

To answer your second question, if you have only put in a sensible bid you are allowed to see the highest bidder at the end of the auction.

You can see the final bidder if you are logged in, you don't need to be a bidder.  Private sales don't show the bidder even then.

Private sales do show the winning bidder. Keep the list open and use another window to watch what's going on. Click on the snowdrop once bidding is over and the winner comes up.

Just posted on the PBS (Pacific Bulb Society) list:

Another comment on eBay in general. We have discovered that illegally
imported material is sometimes offered. Fish and Wildlife has actually
brought us material they got off eBay to help identify. Some is likely
smuggled CITES material, especially with succulents. I suggest  checking
with known sources before relying  on eBay.

A worrying report, indeed,  Diane.

We have had details in the papers here recently of the case of a wife of a retired policeman who has been in court for selling counterfeit items of designer clothing on Ebay, from her home in rural Aberdeenshire.....
makes you wonder if honesty is actually valued at all nowadays ? ???
I know this makes me sound like a grumpy old woman.... which., of course, I AM.... but it's a valid point, nontheless!

With all the silly things that are happening on Ebay I thought this might be appropriate.

'Clovis' is on Ebay and is already at £26 with 4 days to go. 'David Baker' is already just short of £50.
