Perhaps someone sent a point "question", earlier on, say, round about 5.44 p.m.? ;)

Might it have been you?

I do not know if it is your snowdrop.  My point was - don't all snowdrops have green leaves  ???  Am I missing something?

The snowdrop being sold on EBay by mrohowes is 'Greenlight'

Hi Arthur

the 'Green Light' is the one that Alan found and shared with Joe Sharmon.  I have seen the plant and can confirm that it has green leaves  ;D  (there is a write up by Alan on the SRGC somewhere about how he found it).

I think it should say 'green shining leaves' or something similar.  Do you know in the way that G. Angelsey Abbey has green leaves (rather than the usual bluish/Grey flush that G leaves have).  When the 'Green Light' is seen next to other Nivalis it becomes just how obvious the difference is - with Green Light shining out.

Kind regards

John

Most snowdrops have a grey powder on their leaves. Is there a technical/botanical word? But yes they all have green leaves

Steve,

I hope you don't mind - your photograph of G. 'Eccuson d'Or' was very nice and I borrowed it for a while and am returning it now.

Fine, as I posted before, I'm ok for anyone to use pics I post on SRGC. I may change that if I post pics of any blood-rare varieties.

Thanks John

How does it compare to woronowii?

Hi Arthur

I'm not sure on that.  Woronii are indeed shiney - can't remember if green light was as polished looking.  If you have an Angelsey Abbey - I would say it compares to that.

Where is Alan when you need him?   :D

Provided Maggi agrees that it is sensible to do so, how about a note here, or in a special thread, of how to complain to Ebay with telephone numbers, website links and any other useful similar information. It's bound to happen again in the future.

Recently http://www.srgc.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=2790.45 there was discussion on the forum about Galanthus ikariae on Ebay. There was concern as to whether it was right or not as no flower was shown. The seller, Melvyn Jope, has contacted me to let you know who he is and his seller ID for future reference. His ID is groman4444

Melvyn, in case you don't know, is the grower and supplier of the reginae-olgae selections featured in the snowdrop book.
