Just wanted to let everyone know how good our guest speaker was for our Alpine Garden Society East Lancashire Group meeting last evening. Peter Cunnington presented 'Himalayan Extremes' and 75 members were enthralled, captivated and greatly amused in equal measures. Many thanks Peter.

Yes, Heather, I was a bit stumped  too,but I'm learning fast!
Emails of posts can be activated by the "Notification" button at the top of each page/thread.
If you look at the buttons at the top of each board (when opened)  there is a notify button. Click that and you will be notified of all posts to topics on  the board. You can also do it with individual topics.

We are on broadband now, so I may have life easier than those on dial-up, but I find the pages come in pretty fast and when I click a photo to see it full size, it is very quick to display.

Cliff, nice to have you with us again! Sounds like a good talk your Group has just had. I do enjoy the programme of Talks each season....we are fortunate to have so many talented Speakers.

Can I have a little help with posting pics, please?
What is the 'best' image size?  I presume it is no longer quite as small as it used to be.
I have got as far as downloading the images but they did not show up in the preview and there is no indication that I can see as to why.  They are indicated below this box as I type this but do not show in the posting.

Pictures /  attachments don’t show in the preview – that's just a limitation of the software. I would suggest re-sizing all your pics  to a max width / height of 640 px. This means that in standard landscape format most will be 640 x 480 or thereabouts

Ah, they are there this time. I expect this sort of thing will reduce as I get used to the new format.

What I wanted to say with these pics was that there are 2 things in flower when thet should be over though the Eccremocarpus will flower all year round if the weather premits.  There are other things that have ventured a flower or two due to the continuing mildness, such as Erinus alpinus, poppies, roses, phlox, potentilla, geranium etc, but not many flowers.
