November 2006
« on: November 14, 2006, 10:23:55 AM »
Well, 900 feet up in Aberdeenshire there  is not much in flower on a raw November day. However, just to get the new forum started I took a few photos – so here they are

Cyclamen  coum  is  plant no one should be without. I got 2 plants from Ian Christie many years ago and now I have hundreds. They even grow out of the road, spread by ants I beleive,  and never fail to flower  their hearts out every year in late January / February no matter what the weather.

The hollies are nice right now too

No doubt in a week's time this will all be familiar once again, but for the moment, feels like I'm typing with my toes!!

Cheers and good luck with the new forum.

By the look of things, we can post pics with larger file sizes than before. Can anyone tell me what the maximum file size is for uploading pics on this new system?

I just love it when familiar things change! Like when they move everything around in the supermarket! I expect we'll get used to it and find it's better in the long run. I just popped back into the old forum for a minute, and it feels nice and comfy in there.

I have set the max size for an image (for any type of attachment in fact) at 300K and a max of 10 attachments  / post. Members are encouraged to make the attachment file sizes smaller though for practical reasons

You can attach the following file types

doc
gif
jpg
pdf
png
txt

It will take a bit of getting used to. Am just trying to get postings to turn up in my email again.  Have printed off the User help and have now found the notify button, so shall see if replies get sent to Spam!

If this works - well glad to be back and thanks for the efforts of everyone involved to get the forum back up on its feet.  I bet that caused some headaches.

Mark, when you click 'reply' at the top of the thread and get the 'post reply' box up for typing into, the 'additional options' button just below to the left opens up a browse and attach facility for uploading pics etc. (where I now see the very info I asked for - max file size - is clearly set out; if only I'd looked more carefully. Anyway, thanks admin for the reply. 300kb max should make things easier for people who have probs resizing pics to very small files and keeping the quality).

This is fun, really... apart from having to get one's exhausted grey cells round a new system... and it must be said, most of the answers to your/ my/ our questions are already around us, if we just read through well and keep looking....email us if you get really stuck! I likethe way we can show fab fotos of our gorgeous selves and I like the thumbnails that whizz in a a good speed and then click up to make a bigger size for viewing. All thanks and credit to Fred the Admin for his powerful amount of work to get this show on the road at such short notice and impressively high speed.
All hail, Fred!

Looks like we are all Newbies now. Anyhow, this is no. 1 for me.

Hope the pics will be bigger without having to click on them.  Not sure how to select boards that I want to be advised of in my e-mail inbox.
