Great pictures Luit, you are fortunate to live so close, I was most impressed when I last visited Keukenhof, and, as we were in our own car, was able to spend most of the day there.  Thanks for rekindling the memories.

You are very welcome David, but it is a big garden.
You'll need a day or so and good shoes..... ;)

Week 3:
When so many people visit this garden and the weather is not so nice,
it is possible to visit several pavillions where always is something to see.

In the so called Beatrix Pavillion is a permanent orchid show.
Here are a few pictures:

WOW. 'Vanda Blue Magic' is a dream Luit, the other ones are nice too but I mustn't be tempted!

Those Phaelanopsis are so lovely, and ,of course, the orchids keep their flowers for such a long time butr the colour and gleam of the tulips... and how they must scent the hall.... they are amazing. Orange Balloon is super and the Tulipa Tinka is so elegant!

Luit,

in the glasshouse. Are these "new" cultivars ? Or why where they are growing in the glasshouse?
A stupid question, but the time I stay years ago they have a lilac show there and so I ask myself why they grow tulips in the glasshouse.

Uli, I expect that you know the weather in Holland does not mean: always sunshine?  ;)
I wrote on this page :
Quote
When so many people visit this garden and the weather is not so nice,
it is possible to visit several pavillions where always is something to see

When it is cold and wet and windy outside, people can see inside many bulbs or other plants.

You may say when the weather is not nice I don't go there, but if you arranged your
travel and are here you will go there, despite bad weather.

And the tulips inside are a lot earlier than outside and the people who come early in the
season want to see tulips and picture them.

Quote
Are these "new" cultivars ?
There are indeed many rather new varieties too.
All the bulbs you see are delivered for free by the Dutch bulb growers or traders.
In the whole garden every year 7.000.000 bulbs are planted every year and "Keukenhof"
does not pay for them.

Some pictures of other plants/flowers in the glasshouse

Keukenhof Narcissus W.P. Milner
Keukenhof Prunus glandulosa Alba Plena
Keukenhof Rhododendron
Keukenhof Rhododendron Sachsenstern

Then a picture of the Multiflora Hyacinthus Anastasia.

and some other pictures in the park.

Keukenhof 5

The last picture shows the same slope with Crocus I showed in the first week.
Due to the cold weather they are still looking very good.

In one of the Pavillions is every week a special show.
In the 3rd week there were Gerbera.
The hall is rather dark with much artificial light and spots.
A few pictures of this show.

Thanks Luit for the information. The time I stay the weather was sunny and so we only want to see the plants outside.
