AGS Midland Show at Solihull on 18th APRIL 2009
« Reply #1 on: April 16, 2009, 10:24:35 PM »
If anyone is too far south to visit the SRGC show at Perth, you might like to visit the AGS Midland Show at Solihull, just south of Birmingham.  From 10am there's plenty to do: peruse the book stall, enjoy the refreshments and of course, the nurseries will be open for business, including Aberconwy, Pottertons, Graham Nicholls, Robin White, Rob & Diane Cole and Edrom Nursery.  The actual show will be open to the public from 12 to 4.

The show is at: Arden School, Station Road, Knowle, Solihull, West Midlands B93 0PT.  From the M42, take Junction 5, south on the A4141 towards Knowle, after 1 mile turn right into Lodge road, then at T junction, right into Station Road.  The school is immediately on the left.

As I type this, I am processing entries and there are lots to process, so it promises to be a good show.  There will be a swarm of forumists there, so do make yourself known.

Edit - Sorry, for starting another thread, Maggi I didn't see your previous posting, and thanks for merging them.

Many thanks Giles for your early contributions to this topic and very nice to meet you today at the show.
The Midland Show proved another superb event in a very consistent spring and summer. Hearty congratulations to John Harrison, Diane Clement and everyone involved in this tremendous event.  The day started cool and cloudy but the sun came out after lunch and the hall was bathed in sunlight and colour all afternoon.  The Farrer Medal went to 'the daphne king'; Robin White with a spectacular ... daphne!
Birthday greetings to John Dower and Tony Lee (pictures to follow) and congratulations to all the exhibitors for a beautiful array of plants.
Lots more images to follow when time and tide allow ...

Aquilegia grahamii
Calceolaria darwinii
Cypripedium fasciolatum
Dionysia F3 hybrid
Farrer Medal winning daphne

I knew it is Johnnie's Birthday, and Yuri from Moscow, but not that Tony Lee was also in line for a cake!!
Many Happy returns of the day to you all!

The  Midlands show looks to have had more bright colours especially reds than the Perth Show.... interesting to se what is in flower where!

Perth was more  yellow, I think.... more pix tomorrow or Monday from Perth.
hope everyone gets home sfaely from the shows and that you all had as fine a  day as we did on Perth!
