Gardening Scotland 2009

The SRGC did not have a full display this year, just the small decorative beds to adorn the publicity stand, but a Silver medal has been awarded nonethe less, WELL DONE IAN C and THE GANG!

 Neil Huntley of Hartside has won a Silver, as did  White Cottage Alpines, and the wholesale nursery Harperley Hall Nursery, exhibiting at GS for the first time with alpine and rock garden plants.


Binny Plants had  ‘An urban New Zealand garden’ with endemic and other non-native plants for their display.

Jacques Amand got a gold for their unusual bulbs.
Gavin and Beryl MacNaughton of Macplants have also won Gold.

The Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society won Gold for their display, a celebration of the bicentenary of ‘The Caley’, showing its close association with Scottish Horticulture over the last 200 years.

Good to see that President Ian was able to meet the Princess Royal and present her with a copy of the new Meconopsis book, Bill Terry's book on blue mecs.; 'Blue Heaven' .

The Princess does not look terribly amused, it must be said  , and Jim Jermyn, in the centre of the pix, looks very odd indeed    .....glad to see the Princess looks more cheery as she meets Stella and David Rankin, who are both  smiling so widely they look like they may burst!! Another successive best in show for Kevock; they must be very proud. I'll bet they are "Christmas crackered" now, too!

HRH Princess Anne, the Princess Royal  with  Jim Jermyn , Gardening Scotland Show Manager  meets SRGC President Ian Christie , and is presented with a copy of "Blue Heaven" by Ian on behalf of the SRGC.

I believe she is, in fact, very nice indeed, according to some young horse riders I know. I do admire her tailoring.

A very warm sunny day at Ingliston brought out the punters. Must commend the Scottish Rock team for their stand and display which attracted a good deal of attention. Very well done to them all

MacPlants of Pencaitland Gold medal winning display - in fact Beryl was responsible for design and build for three of the displays - including Macplants, and the Caley's 200th exhibit; (can't remember the third). All were adjacent and made a wonderful set of exhibits: a lot of hard work and the awards well earned!!!
4.  Trollius x cultorum 'Cheddar'

5, 6: display of Meconopsis x sheldonii - a really stunning exhibit of well grown plants entitled: Rodella and the Blue Poppy

Must say I am very taken by Trollius cultorum 'Alabastar', a plant I have admired for many years but have never seen for sale here at home. I must go on the chase again.

When I saw the picture of Trollius Cheddar, I thought of T. Alabaster too.
Would like to know what is the difference, if there is any??
