Hello everyone, sorry its been a long time, but busy at work and sorting out the Hippeastrums and Amaryllis. Both unfortunately took a bit of a beating over winter this year. The weather combined with a tempremental heater, managed to kill a good few Hippeastrum bulbs. Ive got a good few left, but will have to restock over the coming months.
Back to the point of the message.
I obtained seeds of quite a few different Haemanthus and Scadoxus, which have germinated nicely. I have been reading about cultivation especially composts, and Im confused about exactly what they need.
I assume as they are South African, they need well drained sandy (Ish) soil.
Has anyone got a really good recipe for the compost for these.
A the moment Ive got nearly all of them in a loamy/sandy compost with added perlite and seramis.
They seem to be doing ok, but not quite sure.
Hope everyone is well
Andy
