Western Ghats

Just got back from 2weeks in Goa. Spent a couple of days up in the mountains, Western Ghats. Got a few photos of local flowers if anyone is interesred or can identify for me.
First a general view of the area.
Then an orchid on the high point. Is there enough to identify as I know nothing about orchids.

Aha, so you've been on holiday? I thought it was quiet from down your way!
Some sort of Dendrobium for you orchid, I would think. Someone will know.

A few more taken in a trek through the woods.
First is it a mimosa species?
Next two no idea at all.
And finally one for Mark, the local batcave.

The starry white flower is a Jasmine, I think, Mick. First one looks like I should know it, but I'm stumped meantime!

I am with Maggi on the orchid being a dendrobium but I do not know more exact.

I haven't a clue about any of them but I wonder if Fermi (Fermiano de Sousa) in Australia may know. I have it in my mind that he's from Goa, but then, I could be quite wrong about that.

I think Fermi's grandparents where from Goa not him directly, but he might have visited it later as well so he might know the flora.

Sorry to disappoint you, Lesley, but Joakim is right as I didn't get to see Goa till I was 16. Visits there have mainly for family time so not much botanising; Mick has seen more of the local flora than I have!
Where my family live is definitely tropical not much good for rock gardening, though some cousins did have pots of rain-lilies in bloom once when we visited many years ago. Apparently someone in India was one of the early breeders of rain-lily ( Zepheranthes, Habranthus and Cooperia) hybrids according to Thad Howard who wrote a great book on
Bulbs for Warm Climates".

This Forum never ceases to amze me: how on earth did swedish Joakim, living mostly in Portugal, know that Fermi, living in Australia, had his family roots in Goa?

Maggi :As a soldiers daughter I would expect You know the history of India  and that Goa.
There is always a clue

Since noone tried to guess it might not have been a funny one.
The answer is Portugal. 
Fermis last name and my mother-in-laws name is the same and I asked if he had Portoguese origen.
He had his roots in Goa that used to be Portuguese and hence a Portuguese name.
That is the reason I knew about Fermis background.

The answer is Portugal. 

Well, I didn't make that connection, I suppose I should have...getting slow obviously !
Tempted to make feeble jest about Fermi contacting his far-flung relatives by sousa-phone ....
