G.plicatus trym exchange
« on: August 16, 2009, 03:51:32 PM »
im looking for a replacment G.plicatus 'trym', as unfortunaley i have not been able to find a clean stock, my previous supplier had sold me a virused bulb and he could not track down any clean stock either, which is rather worrying actualy!

i can exchange it for a G.elwesii 'godfrey owen' if anyone would like to do so.

Rob - That would more than a fair trade.  Trym - virused or not - is a hard one to come by.  Hoping to get one soon myself.

There are two types of TRYM in circulation. One is very stiff. He has not the convex outer tepales. The other with light curved tepales is much better.

Hagen - The impostor I received looks very much like the one at Johan Mens site:

http://www.martinedesmedt.be/galanthus.html

The outer markings on mine, while inconsistent, generally have an outer markshaped like a "w" with the outers clipped a bit.  The markings are also rather blurred.

Also the inner segment tips are reflexed as in the photo.

Does this sound like the same one?

The better one you can see here:http://www.oirlicher-blumengarten.de/galanthus/plicatus.html

Here you can see, that TRYM is one parent of SOUTH HAYES!

An interesting observation Hagan - I shall be looking at the ones I grow from 2 different sources when they flower to see which type(s) I have.
