Hello Hans,
I should be interested in corsica and qiui seeds. I am collecting my seeds and I shall draw up a list for the SRGC and people who wants swaping with me.  What plants interest you ?
Kind regards

And I can definitely vouch for the quality of Hans seed...... even going through a seed exchange (and therefore stored for a period of time etc) they germinate well.  I have some a few years old now and they're all emerging again for the year now.  They'd be far larger if I had looked after them properly!  ::)

Hans, if you don't mind me asking.... how closely related is the P. linyanshanii to the rockii?  It has the traditional rockii flares, but it has a nicer flower form to it by the looks of your pictures.  Not a species name I have come across before, which is why I am asking.  Then again a lot of the species you show are not ones I have come across before.  ;D  The colour of qiui looks exceptional.  Such a delicate shading to the flowers.  I think I've commented on it here before when you've posted pics.  At the time it was another new species to me.
Cheers.

Paul ,

Please look for my ealier pics of peonies ( treepeonies 2009 ) ....there are some pics from my P. linyanshanii
this plant is really very different from all my other P.rockii - they hav a other growing form ( often single stem ) other leaves ...and really bigger flowers ( 25 cm )

For the last update with this name please look in Google -you will ind a lot of informations .
I have all the descripions but I will not break any copy rights

Maybe can Thomas Sailer help !!!

I have to say that I'm a bit sad - here is no big interest for this seeds ....
Maybe the people will all buy "ready" plants and growing they from seeds - of course this needs a long time but we can learn much more about this plant .

Hans,

Ah, on looking it up I see that linyanshanii is a subspecies of rockii.  No wonder it has the dark flares.  It certainly has a nice form to it, and seems a little more double than the traditional rockii?  Or is it just that the petals are more ruffled?

I think that people are reticent for trying them from seed because people don't realise that some of the Paeonia species can flower in 3 years from seed.  I didn't until a couple of years ago.  Mine have already been a couple of years and are nowhere near flowering as yet, because they're still in small community pots.  3 or 4 years for possible first flowers on spectacular plants like Paeonia seems pretty short compared to so many things.  ;D

Cheers.

Paul ,

thats always funny -if I post a pic of a nice peony there is a lot of "Ah" +"Oh" .....but if I offer later some seeds for swap ....more or less no answers !
The peony friends have to realize that it is more or less not possibly such things in any nurseries !
this species can not so easy multiplicatet like any P. lactifora or P.officinalis forms + hybrids
I was really happy when I got before many years 8 seeds of P.linyanshanii ....and now I have some seeds to give away !

Hans, I am amazed that there have been so few requests for your seeds. I know  how good they are!!

Perhaps people are worried that they might not have something good enough to swap with you? Have you a list of some seeds that you would be pleased to get, to help tempt more requests?? :D

Hi Maggi ,

thank you for your nice words !

It is no problem to swap with me - I'm always interestet for bulb plants ( mainly Amaryllidaceae )
But I give also my seeds away for a little money ( only to cover my costs for shippment ) - inside Europe I have to pay for a small parcel 3 ,00 Euro ....and for the rest costs of the world 6,00 E - sorry thats pretty expensiv !!! .....and I can not send all my seeds as gift and also pay for shippment !

I will not make any profit with my seeds !

Hans,

And the foliage alone of so many of the Paeonia is worthwhile growing.  By the looks of your clusii they have a grey foliage which must look stunning with the pale pink, and the corsica looks to have quite pointed flowers, which gives it an unusual look.  Is this normal for the species?  I don't think I've seen it in person before.  I don't "need" any seed, but I can see that I am going to end up tempted by discussing them like this.  ::)  I have no willpower!  :o
Cheers.

Hans I would love to try seed of any that are not already gone. I am delighted to see that I have quite a few seedlings up of Paeonia mascula ssp helenica var carica from Pilous in 2008 - all seeds have germinated according to the tag. I am not sure what I have in the way of Amaryllidaceae to share. Do you have a Paypal account that I could use to pay the postage?

Paul ,

yes -you are rigth with the foliage of some peonies they are really interesting !

The P. corsica is one of the rarest peonies .....and this here is the true ( grown from seeds ex Corsica ).
On Corsica grows 3 species of peonies : P. morrisii ( earlier called P.russoi - but real P.russoi are different , P. mascula and P. corsica ( also called P. russoi v. leiocarpa ) -all three are different !!!
By seeds from nurseries you will get mostly wrong named plants or hybrids  - sorry !
