snowdrop web site update
« on: October 27, 2009, 05:06:12 PM »
Many of you have been asking when will my snowdropinfo.com/gallery2007 be updated. I agreee two years is too long to wait. Over the last week I have added around 150 new photos and updated other pages. Many thanks to those who proof read for mistakes. I'm waiting for permission to use some photos and then I will post the new link.

The unseen power of this web site strikes again. In 8 days nearly 16,600 people have visited my snowdrop gallery. I really have to start  selling advertising to bulb suppliers

Mark, there has to be a way to market the wonderful images and information you provide - maybe a membership fee to view the full gallery - or photo download fee?  ::)

Mark,

Is the G. 'Corona North' you have listed the one which originated at Altamont Garden in County Carlow?

If so, this is  not the official/published name. A snowdrop grown by Corona North at Altamont and which was intended to be named after her was subsequently named as 'Green Lantern'.

I must search out a photograph.

Yes it is Paddy. I was informed it was the other way round named 'Green Lantern' and changed to 'Corona North' in honour of Corona

No, Mark, it is certainly 'Green Lantern'. Not the easiest of snowdrops to keep going by all accounts; clumps seem to resent being lifted and divided and losses following this have set back the bulking up of the cultivar. Somewhat in the same manner as your Northern Ireland G. 'Rowallane' it would seem.

Did I also notice you were looking for a bulb of G. 'Lady Moore'? If so, I gave some to Bob and Margaret and can send you on some in the coming season but I will leave it to you to remind me of this. This is another snowdrop which has, at least, two different bulbs under the name. I have bulbs which came to me from a lady who received them from Lady Moore (- with written authentication, if you don't mind!)

Paddy, why don't they send bulbs away for twin scaling?
