Galanthus peshmenii

On my recent holiday in Turkey I was lucky to see hundreds of Galanthus peshmenii in flower.  Until now I had thought there was little variation other than size of inner mark.  I remember the excitement generated when Tony Willis showed a rock covered in peshmenii showing green outer tips.

In two different locations I found two exciting forms:-

1).  Green outer markings that were the same colour and shape as the inner markings.  I apologise for the very poor photograph taken back in the hotel room on a single flower.  I think it shows the marks quite clearly.

2).  A poculiformis without a trace of green.  Again apologies for the very poor photo of the inner.  Photos taken on a flower in the hotel room.  This plant was growing in a rock crevice.

I have never seen anything quite like it - not sure there is a reginae-olgae equivalent.

I believe, the outer markings aren`t not only green tips. It much more interesting. You saw a plant with the effect of "equal" marks on all segments. Best example is TRYM. The outer green is much deeper, then you can find it on "normal" tips.

Nice poculiforme, I like these "hololeucus".
