Thankyou Michael for the welcome - I see I am going to have a great time going through your many albums........ might have to wait till tommorrow afternoon before I can get a good look.  Some day I would like to have a set of albums like this.  I only recently started taking macro photographs of plants.   :)

Rosie, with a little time and patience you will get there, the first 20 years is the worst. When I started first I did not back up my computer files on a  Cd and lost three years photographic work when my computer crashed. I won't get caught with that one again.

All those above are delicious. Normally not a great fan of doubles, I really can't make up my mind whether I prefer the single or the double hellebores. Perhaps their markings and different colours make them outstanding and that last one Chris, looks like a gorgeous tutu. Something for a not terribly good fairy perhaps. :)

Two plants of H. cyclophyllus from MESE seed (AGS Greek seed collecting expedition in 1999) flowering now.  They have been very slow to get established would probably have benefited from being moved but as they mark the graves of Milo the budgie and Fluffy the chicken they can't be touched!

Gail - the green-flowered H. cyclophyllus is entrancing, a lively green that still shows that the flowers as flowers.

Jane - the low stature on your double-pink makes for a good looking form.  The lower varieties here survive winter better here, assuming we have snow cover.

Mark - those anemone centered ones are outstanding, the yellow one is truly special!

I don't grow many Helleborus here, my property is on an exposed hillside blasted by northerly winds in the winter, and I haven't found good spots for Helleborus where their foliage doesn't completely winterburn and look terrible.  But H. niger is bone hardy and reliably evergreen, must look into some of the new H. niger hybrids.  Normally the flowers on my plants are white tinged with pink, but this year they are a strong pink... probably brought on by this spring's weather conditions?  It is flowering well this year and putting on a good show (and seeding around too, yippee).

Mark, they look good especially ven though I treated them very badly. They just lay around in their pots, no food, drying out, getting wet, drying out ...
