Dracocephalum purdomii?
« on: December 26, 2009, 06:14:19 PM »
I'm doubtful that this is really Dracocephalum purdomii - wrong flower colour, for one thing.
Here's the description from eFlora of China:
http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=200019591

Any thoughts?  Thanks in advance.

I had this one from a seedex maybe 10 years ago as D.imberbe- whether it was true I do not know.

It's rather nice though.

At least some species throw other colour forms. I have D. argunense and though it's a good blue, a proportion of seedlings are very pale blue (much like that above) and a few good whites.

Very true - they may be blue in the wild where outbreeding is more likely- so this could be why 'The Flora of China' describes them as blue or purple. In cultivation inbreeding can lead to different colours such as albinos.
