Romulea season 2010
« on: January 02, 2010, 11:19:47 AM »
New Romulea season, the early ones starts to bloom today:
Different shades of R. bulbocodium from the Upper Galilee and R. Tempskyana, a common species in the Eastern Mediterranean.
This specific species has been described in the past in Flora Palestina as R. phoenicia but it is R. tempskyana.
We have an exceptional hot sunny weather today with 23c. [Sorry... ;)]
Tivon, in the lower Galilee, north Israel.
200m.

Oron,

I rather like the dark throated one at the bottom of the R. bulbocodium pic.  Very nice.
Cheers.

Thanks for showing Oron ,nice .In our Belgian collections, Romulea is not much represented I think ...
And as we see it is a mistake.I see they are grow in pots ,but maybe you grow al your plants/bulbs in pots?

Very nice Oron. Yours are a few weeks ahead of mine and given 23C I'm not surprised ;D

Cheers David, this is the same bulb as last year but a bit more robust a year on and I think growing better for being on its own rather than growing in a community pot. Only one germination in the same pot from last years seed, hoping a few more seed may germinate as the Spring warms up.

We have several collections/fprms of R.bulbocodium, purchased as bulbs and grown from seed. This one, from seed, is the only form we grow as an indoor pot subject.
The petal outers seem very well marked this year.

Oron

I like them all.  I have several pots of seedlings that I hope will flower next year.  A very underrated genus.
