Hi Gail & Alessandro, like you I have had a struggle to get these to flower, some years ago I read that they needed potassium to flower well,so I gave them heaps and they flowered and have flowered reasonably well up until this year. This year has been really wet and have more frosts than normal also a cool summer by our standards. It seems to me that to get these to flower they must have a good source of potassium, dry winters, no frosts and hot summers.bye Ray

Ray,

I had them flower here a few years ago, so the "no frosts" definitely isn't one of the necessities.  Only had them flower here the once though, as far as I recall.
Cheers.

Canberra, Australia.
Min winter temp -8 or -9°C. Max summer temp 40°C. Thankfully, maybe once or twice a year only.

Thank you all for the wellcoming!
Here are some pictures of a specie of zephyrantes that I like very much. Zephyrantes Americana.
It blooms with no leaves and after the rain.

One week ago I bought a single bulb of Sprekelia formosissima which was offered at a clearance sale for 10 cent.
It flowered yesterday (though with a shorter stem than usual for this species).  :D

Compare the colour of Thomas's Sprekelia and mine.
I haven't seen anywhere other Sprekelia having so much white in their flowers.
It is the first time it has so much white, before I remember the central stripe, but no more.
I will look for pics.
It is normal? Could be an hibrid?

Pity Santo

It would be nice to have some seeds
maybe one day if you have an offset left over
I am lining up :)

I will give it a try to pollinate some Sprekelia next year
