Wendy's Gold comparison

I have the RHS colour chart and thought of a good idea ..

Does anyone in the UK want to help work out how variable Wendys Gold is? I'll work out the colour of mine and mail the chart on to person 2 who works out their plant and forwards the chart to person 3.

Sounds an interesting idea - I can't volunteer as I've just stripped the petals off mine to do some hybridising.  However I have noticed that my plant (from Kath Dryden) is a much clearer yellow this year than it was last year - whether that is due to weather conditions or maturity of plant I don't know.

I've just had a look at a Wendy's Gold flower here.... both inner mark and ovary correspond to the 2nd deepest shade on the page from the old RHC charts for Dresden Yellow. Sheet 64 colour 64 /1

Does that help at all?

(Modified bececause I got muddled with 'Primrose Warburg' from her pic ;she shows to be the deepest shade, 64 straight. )

Diane in Canada and myself had started doing something similar to compare how yellow her elwesii were - but we stopped when the elwesii stopped being yellow.

Is there another means of getting hold of the 'RHS Colour Chart' other than passing it around?  I'm in the RHS, maybe they'll send me one?

Now that I look, I see that there is a mini version which is a snip at only £26:  http://shop.wisley.co.uk/products.php?product=RHS_COLOUR_CHARTS .  Surely there is a cheaper alternative (and I don't think you can use your computer monitor unless it has been colour-calibrated)?

Diane collected 'paint sample cards' in Canada and posted them to me for our elwesii experiment.

Brian Ellis and I were actually having this same conversation a few days ago and didn't actually take any action on it.  If someone is near a DIY store that has paint cards - can they grab some, say 20 of the same kind, that look about the right yellows and then we can pass them between us and take some photos using them?

Sorry Mark - but for some reason that has me in stitches.  

I'm trying to imagine my local B&Q's reaction (the biggest B&Q store in existence) to me walking around the paint section with a little pot of snowdrops in my hand.

Surely they could mix you a litre of emulsion in Wendy's Gold - they say they can match any shade!
