The Farrer Medal plant was won by a 20 year old Dionysia curviflora grown by Nigel Fuller. This is the same plant that won the Farrer in 2003

Great show report.

It looks to have been the best show so far this season.

David, thanks for this report! The show hall looks wonderful and the standard of each plant seems very high indeed. It seems the further south one travels the more cushion plants appear!
What a super day you must all have enjoyed, many cogratulations to you and all the Show Team and exhibitors.
Nigel Fuller's medal plant is an absolute cracker, isn't it?   8)

David, Channel Hoppers will rarely disappoint you...  ;) ... even when they have a sore back after dragging all these J.I. bags out of the car..  ;D
I think you do deserve some help with some extra pictures from an extraordinary show !!  ;) Well done to all that helped out to achieve this success !!

I would have started with your mouthwatering 6 pan Sax. entry, but you beat me to it..

So here are some three pan entries that caught my eye - sorry for the missing names..  :-\

1) Crocus - 3 pan
2) Fritillaria - 3 pan - from bottom to top : F. carica - F. zagrica  and F. gibbosa
3) Narcissus - 3 pan
4) Primula - 3 pan
5) another Primula - 3 pan - large
6) Saxifraga - 3 pan
7) another Saxifraga - 3 pan
8 ) Colourful 3 pan with Tecophilaea cyanocrocus - Dionysia aretioides - Hepatica transsilvanica "Ellison Spence"
9) Cyclamen - 3 pan
10) Dionysia - 3 pan

As a Dionysia beat me to the Farrer Medal I'm a bit lothed to show another picture of one

Thanks Maggii
I understand from Nigel the seed of this Dionysia was collected by Jim Archibald back in the 60s from Iran.
Best Wishes David

Dionysia Bernd Wentzel is a super plant and I love the colour..... must be going through a yellow patch with that  Iris as well, I think!

David, I'm assuming that those terrific plants in picture IMG_0139.JPG  are your six pan entry?
Might we see close-ups ( whether from you or from Luc)  and learn what plants they are?

Great show - got there at 7.15am after somehow agreeing to man the plant sales table (not sure at which point I said yes  :-\  But I am glad I did as it was a fantastic day  ;D and  met lots of interesting people (including the 2 channel hopping Luc's ):D) )

A few snaps of things that attracted my attention.

David's a bit modest Maggi  ;)!  That was his (glorious) entry indeed !
I don't have access to my pictures here now, I'll see what I can do tonight, but I think I only got a close-up from the giant white Sax at the back, which is (if I remember correctly  ???  ::)) "Tenerife"
Confirmation tonight or earlier if David or anybody else can solve the problem !

John,
It was great meeting you - first time (to my knowledge) that somebody manned a plant sales table in camouflage outfit.  ;D ;)
