Heard Ian on player - the BBC could do no better than engage Ian as John Cushnie's successor.
Forumist appearing on British Televison this week ! Anthony Darby... now relocated to New Zealand, will be appearing on BBC TV on Friday, at 1800 hrs in a programme recorded some months ago. The programme is the quiz show "Eggheads" where teams of five compete with a team of five "Eggheads"... who are all winners of various quiz programmes over many years..... multiple winners of Mastermind, Brain of Britain, etc. Anthony took part with some of his colleagues from his choir in Dunblane and their efforts can be seen this coming Friday. The programme is shown on BBC2 in Scotland at 6pm.... times for other parts of the UK may vary and some of you lucky people will be able to catch it on the BBC i-playerThe game is played by four of the challengers who compete head to head with someone from the Eggheads on various subjects, Art and Films, History and so on and for the final round the winners of their individual rounds and the remaining player from each team compete together in a general knowledge round. So, the final round may result in one person against five! The Eggheads didn't come by their name lightly... they're a canny bunch and quite formidable opponents. Do look out for it if you can... it's good fun.... Here's a picture of Anthony and his Team with the Eggheads..... to the extreme left are the Presenter, Jeremy Vine in the back and, I think, the producer in front but Anthony will probably find this and tell us for sure. Anthony is second right in the front row.
Maggi,I watched the programme and a great result for Anthony and his team. One amusing conclusion - it appears that not all forum members speak with a Waterford accent. As I read all forum postings, naturally I read with my Waterford accent whether the writer is from Scotland, South Africa, New Zealand, England, or North America. So, you all sound different then!Paddy
Alas, Maggi's link is "not available in my area".
