I thought those of us who were lucky enough to get bulbs from the very generous donation from this collection sold off at the 2009 SRGC Discussion Weekend might like to share them here as a further thank you to the donor, Mr Cees Breed, and to Luit & Vroni for bringing them over.

I'll start off with Marzo and Sailboat

This is 'Cernuus'. Rather nice, we had not heard of it and can find no reference to it either.

Hi Darren - see http://daffseek.org/query/query-detail.php?value1=Cernuus%20Pulcher&lastpage=1&which=hist1
It's very nice, rather like N. pallidiflorus.

Great idea Darren, as at the time I was curious to know what the bulbs were that were so kindly donated - now we can share in the delights of discovery - and I find that 'Sailboat' is my cup of tea  8)

Darren,

Somewhere I found a reference to N. cernuus as though the name should be N. moschantus 'Cernuus Plenus' but I'm not sure whether that is correct, I think it was in a Narcissus book I borrowed from our SRGC library.

Anyway, here are the ones I've flowered so far:
N. 'Gipsy Queen'
N. moschantus 'Cernuus Plenus' ?
N. 'Segovia'

Thanks Anne - I've not looked at Daffseek before - it is rather good!

Thanks for posting your pics and joining in Chris.

Daffseek is a very useful site and highly recommended. Chris, N. moschantus 'Cernuus Plenus' is the double version.

Thanks Ann, thought as much, so I'll change the name back.  Seems the narcissus have a lot of nomenclature problems.  Daffseek is very useful in this regard.

My first to flower 'The Little Gentleman'.  'Waif is nearly there but 'Kathy's Clown' is not going to flower this year.

I have been rather disappointed in one of my purchases.  I bought one called Golden Bells which said it was a 7YY but after some fruitless research and some emails with Luit it turned out to be a bulbocodium and not a particulalry inspiring one.  it is very tall and narrow.

I am hoping for better things from a pot of N. flycatcher that should be out next week.
