Pleione scopulorum?

Hope you are able to help me a bit with a pseudobulb I received today as P. scopulorum.

The one I got is already past flowering (actually long past because the flower stalk is wilted and dry) which seems really early for scopulorum. The other fact that makes me suspicious is that it's just growing a single leaf. Could this happen to a twin-leaved species and are there other ways to tell whether it's scopulorum without a flower present?

Hi Thomas,
Are you able to show us a picture of the pseudobulb?
Having only one leaf does not necessarily mean it is not scopulorum as sometimes some scopulorum bulbs do only make one leaf instead of the usual two.

Hi Paul,

I just took a picture of the pseudobulb. One of these squares on the sheet is 0.5 x 0.5 cm.
As you can see the shoots are already quite advanced as the roots are - not what I expected compared to the pic at ebay which showed a pseudobulb with two shoots just swelling.

Hi Thomas,
P. scopulorum bulbs tend to be somewhat squat and round, as in the picture of some below. Younger bulbs may be a bit more pointed. Yours does not look right compared to these - but in the end the only way to be sure is to grow and flower the bulb and see what comes out. Note, I bury scopulorum bulbs under the compost which is why they have little green colour

Thank you Paul,

the bulb shown on the pic at ebay does look like the bulbs you show. The one I received is really different and I don't think it's just because this might be a younger bulb as it already has a dried flower stalk. However I did contact the ebay seller - maybe something got mixed up.
Unfortunately I will have to wait at least a whole year before a flower could tell whether I got scopulorum or not. Guess I have to order one from Ian Butterfield in autumn just to be sure.
