Samples to be taken to Craigton Road beforehand for quality control?

No need, David, the QA manager works overtime at the show to ensure continued excellence!  ;D ;)

Show goers have obviously come to expect a very high standard of local baking at these events. I hope though, the competition to perform best in that area doesn't approach the crazy determination of each succeeding Olympic Games city to outdo the previous one. Look where paying for their effort has got Greece!

I'm pessimistic enough to fear that the 2012 Olympics will bankrupt us in the UK and I  thought that before the Grecian crisis! Ludicrous to spent such amounts in the current situation.... maybe in ANY situation :-X

I'm discovering that some of the regular bakers for Aberdeen are off on their hols.....we may yet be reduced to a bowl of soup and a plain shop-bought  biscuit  :o :-\

Well that should concentrate the visitors' minds wonderfully, on the PLANTS Maggi. If I could get to ANY of the alpine shows tea and a bikkie would be enough. Well, maybe just ONE cupcake. :D

How about an extension to the show schedule:
Section VI; Class 100   One cake made by the exhibitor ( rule 14, revised, to apply)

An excellent suggestion, David ..... I would think that in this class more than one entry per exhibitor might be permitted. It will need specialised judging, of course.... but I'm amply qualified  for that ;D ;)

I think this would be one of those occasions when an overseas judge could be brought in, and I don't mean Helen or Rodger! (Or anyone Australian either, even though Otto was a pastry chef!)

I think that the qualifications for both you and I to be Premier Judges for this event are more than self-evident by our photos, Lesley..... is there time for you to get here? Bear in mind the Icelandic Volcano is spreading dust clouds far and wide. :-\

Fortunately the Two Lucs have given up on the idea of flying over and are coming by car so they will hopefully have no travel problems.  :)

No dust clouds down this way but no, dammit, I have to work here next Saturday, and work even harder than usual because my two staff have left are are being replaced with only one. So I wish you well of the judging Maggi. Don't forget the Eno's though. :D

If Lesley was able to get away from work there would still be time for her to get here. I read that a Ross County fan now living in Australia is flying back to Glasgow on Thursday for Saturdays cup final :D Ash cloud permitting, of course.

Wasn't that a moment of inspiration Maggi  ;D... let's hope our Ferry from Zeebrugge to Hull doesn't hit an iceberg...  ??? ::)

Obviously, we will be volunteering for that difficult task !!  ;D ::) :P

Well let's see. I start work at 6am Saturday which would be 8pm Friday with you, allowing for your summer time. Then I'm finished by 2pm or 4am Saturday in the UK, so allowing for a 23 hr flight, no, I don't think I can make it.
