My garden is certainly no showpiece, but every so often, against all the odds, it manages to look quite colourful. Here it is as it looked last spring, and my CP bog from a few years ago (sadly, it needs to be rebuilt as we speak).

Lovely Rogan, is that a big Brunfelsia in the first picture?  Only a houseplant here...
Good use of a tyre for your bog!

I like the tyre bog also. Does it have a liner? Is the big shrub yesterday, today, tomorrow?

Yes, the big shrub is a Brunfelsia (Y,T&T) cultivar, which can make a real nuisance of itself in this climate by suckering profusely. At certain times of the year its wonderful fragrance permeates the garden and makes up for its invasive nature.

The tractor tyre does make a useful container for a bog, and is quite comfortable to sit on while getting a closer look at the CP's! I do use a liner of sorts and a sump-and-drain arrangement to keep the water level constant. As you can see, Sarracenia spp and Pinguicula primuliflora thrive, but not Dionaea or Cephalotus. My wife hates it though... says it looks far too "industrial"!

Lots of loverly colour Rogan. The Brunsfelia is frequently grown here though I lost mine some years ago. It never got as far as suckering. I love the Pinguicula. Definitely primuliflora. I thought it was one before I read your note. A beautiful colour too.

Rogan I love the corner of your garden in full flower and the tyre bog is ingenious...what a beauty the Pinguicula is too such a gorgeous pale blue
